Anil Kumble takes 600th Test wicket

Indian Captain Anil Kumble Competed his 600th wicket on Thursday dismissing Australia's Andrew Symonds in the on going third Test. With his 600th wicket Anil kumble become the first Indian and the third in the world to reach the milestone.
While India's fast bowlers were on top of the Australians early in first innings, Kumble delayed his introduction into the attack to give more time to there fast bowlers, but struck just after tea to end a 102-run partnership between Andrew Symonds and Adam Gilchrist.

When he bowled the fourth ball of his fifth over, which was a shorter, faster delivery and it cramped Symonds, who got a thick edge. The ball rebounded off the top of wicketkeeper Mahendra Singh Dhoni's glove and ballooned to Rahul Dravid at first slip which he caught cleanly. As Symonds departed, the 37-year-old leg-spinner raised the ball to an appreciative crowd.

The 37-year-old leg spinner of Team India is playing his 124th Test. Only Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan, with 723 victims, and retired Australian leg-spinner Shane Warne, with 708, have taken more wickets in Test cricket. Retired Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath is next on the list, with 563 victims.
This is history an cricket fans around the world will have to wait for a long time to see another bowler reaching the 600-wicket mark as the Sri Lankan pacer Chaminda Vaas, the closest to Kumble's tally among the current players, has only 331 wickets. Vaas has announced that he will retire this year after taking 350 wickets. So world has to wait a long time to see this mark reached again.
The only other current bowler with 300-plus wickets is South Africa's Makhaya Ntini, who has so far bagged 329 in 82 matches. But Ntini has crossed 30, and is unlikely to reach the 600-wicket mark.

By a pleasant coincidence, Dravid also moved up to the third spot in the list of all-time Test catchers. With his 165th catch, Dravid left behind retired West Indian batsman Brian Lara. Australia's Mark Waugh, who has also retired, holds the record with 181 catches.
